Can cookies heal your sadness?
Hello kitten, here's a tip: Eat what delights and energizes you.
BUT before you go running off to eat a chocolate cake, stop and think about what that means to you. What actually delights you? What really leaves you feeling full of energy? I don't know about you but I don't think a delighted girl is the one face planting into a chocolate cake. Perhaps she's the one that happily indulges in a nice size chunk. But the whole damn thing? Something's going on there...and it's not good.
That groggy, heart racing dizzying feeling after you binged on sugar... is that how you want to feel? Does it actually help to eat your sadness in the form of sugar? Are you truly consoled by the package of Oreos cradled in your lap? Is the chocolate bar you're shoving into your mouth dissolving your deepest hurts? Doubt it.
Is it easier to lie on the couch all day with Netflix and gorge yourself on Hot Pockets and Ring Dings? Abso-friggen-lutely. But no one makes progress taking the easy way out.
Don't you think that if you ate a plate loaded with veggies, spent 30 minutes scribbling in your journal or stepped outside of the confines of your cave to soak up some sunshine that you'd feel a hell of a lot better? Don't you think if you took the time to look within to recognize the turmoil within and release it, it would be a bit more effective? Call me crazy but I think you would start to feel like a whole new person. Lighter, more free, happier.
Don't let your ego get in the way! There is nothing difficult about putting pen to paper. It's not hard to sit still and focus on your breathing & thoughts for 5 minutes. Eating veggies can be as simple as opening a bag of carrot sticks. It's literally so easy. You're ego just wants you to think it's hard work.
Prove your ego wrong. Take a moment to welcome transformation to unfold itself in your life and choose three things you can do to make it happen. And then? Keep doing those things. Push your limits. Surprise yourself with what you're capable of.
