Same goal, 5 New ways
So your goal for 2015 is to lose weight. You really want this to be the year you get this in control once and for all. Well girl, no worries I've got your back. Kick crash dieting and weight loss cleanses to the curb and start with these 5 tips:
How to stop stress eating:
You can try replacing those cookies with carrots all you like, but you are craving them for a reason! Think bigger than restriction and figure out how you can reduce the stress in your life. Do you need a new job, more sleep, meditation, to follow your dreams, or maybe break a good sweat? Get rid of that stress girl!!
Don't deprive yourself:
You will only set yourself up for a vicious cycle of binge and lack. Eat what you crave, it seems super counter-intuitive but your body is trying to tell you something. As you give yourself what your body is asking for, it will eventually balance out and you will crave veggies again, I promise.
Eat high-quality foods:
Okay I'm not telling you to go out to 5-star restaurant every night. But instead of eating cheap processed foods, go for homemade, fewer ingredients, less junk. LES SaLT DUDE Sometimes I eat chocolate for breakfast. Legit chocolate squares and people find that contradictory of me because omg health coach eating dessert for breakfast?! But these chocolate squares are 86% chocolate with 5g of sugar per 4 squares. Compare two of these squares to the amount of sugar that is in the bagel, muffin, cereal, yogurt so many Americans reach for at breakfast.
At the gym:
Women are notorious for signing up for the gym, hopping on the elliptical or treadmill for an hour and then calling it a day. Lady I've got news for you. Yes, cardio is important and great for you BUT if you want to lose weight you need to start lifting weights. Muscle burns fat, and the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. So get your toosh over to those weight machines.
Hate the gym?
Yeah, me too. I've got some options for you girly. I love using Groupon to find local fitness classes in the area, this is a great way to try something new on the cheap. I actually discovered aerial silks this way, which now has a huge part of my heart! I also suggest stocking up on super cheesy workout videos, they WORK and they are fun. Embrace the cheesy-ness! Another great option is to hop onto Youtube and find a plethora of awesome trainers putting out free vids each week. They also usually have a monthly calendar to help you create a structured routine, bonus points!!
