Nourishing yourself in times of change
4 weeks ago I moved to Brooklyn from the town I had lived in for the last 14 years. This has been an incredible change that I've been loving, but it was also a huge uprooting and as introvert I had to leave a lot of my comfort zones behind. I hadn't put much thought into it at the time, but luckily I happened to bring some of my go to grounding tools.
My smiley mug never fails to cheer me up. A friend gave it to me filled with a little flower arrangement tucked inside when I had to take a day off of work and it's always held good intentions for me.
Topping off my mug with some tension tamer tea is such a calming ritual. Relaxing tea is basically a necessity for me in times of stress.
Dark chocolate. My go to comfort food. Both soothing and delicious, sometimes chocolate is truly what keeps me sane.
My nap time blanket is always super comforting to be wrapped up in. The checkered side is silky and cool on the skin while still keeping you warm. My mother's grandmother had made it for her when she was a girl, and it's very special to me.
A fistful of multicolored pens and markers to scribble and doodle in my journal with. Writing is non-negotiable for me in times of upheaval. I love to be able to pick a color to match my mood and intentions of the moment when I'm pouring my thoughts out onto the page.
What are your go to tools to stay well in times of upheaval?
